Routine pregnancy care includes 3 ultrasound examinations. The first examination is in the 9 – 12 week, the second in the 19 – 22 week and the third in the 29 – 32 week of pregnancy. These examinations are designed to look for major developmental problems in the pregnancy and to determine if it is necessary to make a referral to a prenatal center or neonatal specialist.
