Some women experience distress or have emotional problems when the breast is or become too large for the body frame. A heavy breast can cause back problems or shoulder pain where the bra straps cross over the shoulder. Some women experience difficulties with some athletic activities despite a proper fitting sports bra. In some instances breast reduction surgery may help.

In Germany breast reduction surgery is only in certain instances considered an illness that is covered by health insurance.

For consideration an evaluation has to be submitted to the insurance carrier for prior approval. This evaluation can be performed in the office upon request.
